Sketchpad is a Chinese-American owned gallery whose mission is also to highlight Asian-American artists. The tradition Chinese symbol of the chop was determined as the cornerstone of the visual identity. The chop can be considered to be one of the earliest forms of branding, and is distinctly Chinese. Despite these traditional roots, the goal was to modernize the idea of the Chinese chop seal and present an image that recalled the past while showing the way to the future.
